MEET KELLY
Unlike many people her age, Kelly has no idea what she’s doing. Despite being an Excel rockstar, she enjoys reading and writing more than spreadsheets, and she went back to school as a grown adult to get a bachelor’s degree in English. And despite enjoying her work as a data nerd for emergency department physicians, she’s recently returned to school to obtain her master’s in Communications. After graduation, her goal is to upend her life with a new career, hopefully in the nonprofit realm. So she’s not sure what she’s doing, but she is figuring it out.

This blog is part experiment, part practical application. It initially began as a class assignment, but the experience of creation and curation was more meaningful than expected. Writing about how to find the thread of kindness in everyday life, how fun is that? All while developing the skills she’ll need after graduation: gaining a deeper understanding of a range of unrelated topics, refining self-expression through writing styles, and establishing a professional brand.

Kelly lives in Northeast Ohio, and unbeknownst to her until quite recently, she’s actually grown to love her hometown—after many years complaining about it. She loves the devotional unity found at a baseball game, the uninhibited joy found at a Pride festival, and the nostalgic serenity found in a trip to Nova Scotia.

(She also loves semicolons, warm PJs, and British shows about a flying police box, but it’s not yet clear if any of those things will be relevant to her future. Stay tuned.)
